    DRAPER is conducting a nationwide search for a highly innovative engineer/scientist leader with significant technical experience in optical systems, including:  optics, opto-electronics, algorithms, system design, development & test. The successful applicant can expect to work on interesting, complex tasks. Responsibilities will range from technology portfolio management, to program leadership, to business development, including specific leadership tasks such as:  proposal management, system concept modeling and simulation, system design and development, electronics and algorithms concept design, interface definition, overall implementation and test, and project management.



    Ph.D., or equivalent degree, in physics, mathematics, electrical engineering, optics, or computer science. The applicant should have 15+ years technical experience in the field of optical systems. The applicant's background must include instances of technical leadership and organization management in developing optical & opto-electronic systems. The applicant must be accustomed to project coordination and proposal development duties, as well as leading hands-on engineering work, and be able to independently organize the stand-up of infrastructure required to develop hardware and software (as well as test procedures) for optical systems. Experience with MATLAB is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Must be willing to travel. The applicant must be highly motivated, with a willingness to learn and participate in an exciting team environment. Must be eligible  for a U.S. security clearance.


    This position will require the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.  Main requirement for a security clearance is  US Citizenship.
