The candidate will provide technical leadership and direction to Draper's efforts in the design, development, test, analysis, verification, and validation of embedded system software for mission assured systems. Activities will include management of the entire software life cycle from conceptualization and requirements analysis through final software verification and validation. Corresponding engineering documentation of the architecture, design, test plans, and analyses will also be required for all phases of the programs. The individual will be expected to maintain state-of-the-art technical expertise in tools, techniques, and methods used in the development, maintenance, and certification of mission critical and embedded software systems, with emphasis on their application to guidance, navigation, and control systems.
This position requires task management that includes planning, budgeting, interfacing, collaboration, and coordination of efforts with other technical and program areas within and outside the Laboratory. Candidate is expected to have excellent communication and interpersonal skill, capable of leading teams of 5-15 people and working across engineering disciplines to achieve results.
M.S. in EE/CS, Aero-Astro, or equivalent, with course work and industry experience in mission critical software development. A minimum of ten years of experience is required. Good working knowledge and industry experience with computer architectures, full-lifecycle software design and device-level software is required. Knowledge and experience in the design, coding and testing of guidance, navigation and control system software is desirable. Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with task planning and management are necessary.
