Draper seeks a senior engineer with a passion for evolving engineering processes via integration and customization of engineering software tools.


The ideal candidate will make use of their technical expertise and their skills in process development, technical communication, and team management to work with engineering teams to evolve development processes and tool chains to support best practices.


 The candidate will be expected to:

  • Build processes and tool chains that drive project execution efficiency and outcome quality
  • Apply their knowledge of engineering software tools and best practices to work with many project  development teams to devise, construct, and evolve tool chains to support program execution
  •  Work closely with engineers and managers to select and integrate development tools to support project needs
  • Assist in selection, configuration, use, and training for tools used in a wide variety of processes including task tracking, scheduling, knowledge and configuration management


BS, MS, or PhD degree in a relevant technical field of study.

Required Qualifications:

  • Linux system administration
  • Previous experience leading development teams or experience in driving/managing development process evolution
  • Understanding of execution models and variants (e.g. Agile, Spiral, Waterfall, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Atlassian's products (e.g. JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc.)
  • Professional experience with subversion and git and familiarity with various front-ends available for both

 Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with tool sets for Linux, Android, and Windows development
  • 2+ years administering, configuring, maintaining Atlassian's products (e.g. JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc.)
  • 5+ years of software development experience using languages relevant to Atlassian's tools (e.g. Java, HTML, Velocity, etc.)
  • 5+ years of software team leadership
  • Basic Windows system administration
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of IDEs
  • Experience-in or desire to learn plug-in development for Atlassian's tools


This position will require the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.  Main requirement for a security clearance is  US Citizenship.
