Draper is seeking a highly-skilled Secure Processor Principal Investigator to lead a team of developers who are building a state-of-the-art secure processor. Responsibilities include:

  • Leading a team of hardware and software developers working on developing an exciting new secure processor technology.
  • Interest in and ability to keep up with emerging developments in cyber-security. This requires engagement with academic researchers studying novel attacks and defensive techniques, and it is also requires keeping up with the non-academic "real" world of cyber attack and defense. 

  • Good communications skills, including the ability to author research papers, proposals for funded research, and presentations to academic, industry, and government audiences.


Desired Experience:

  • B.S., M.S., or Phd. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
  • 6+ years of relevant practical experience
  • Knowledge of embedded systems, computer science concepts, computer security concepts
  • Strong knowledge of C, C++ and x86 and/or ARM assembly.
  • Background in vulnerability analysis and exploitation on embedded systems.



Additional Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of the RISC-V architecture
  • Knowledge and/or experience with tagged architectures
  • A working knowledge of "formal methods" in particular in specification and verification of correctness and security properties of hardware and software. This includes familiarity with proof assistants such as Coq, Lean, Isabelle, etc. as well as more automated techniques such as SAT and SMT solvers.
  • Low-level programming experience (kernel, hypervisor, drivers)
