The Secure and Assured Systems team is composed of a diverse group of highly creative security experts that design solutions for some of today’s most challenging problems. We continue to invest in that distinction, by leveraging Draper’s capabilities in materials, micro-fabrication, electronics, algorithms, and software to create revolutionary products. We imagine, design and build it in house, including hardware and software.
We are looking for someone to work as part of the team to engineer the next generation of tamper resistant architectures and technologies. The candidate will see the technology through its full life cycle, from research to productizing it. Candidate will be responsible for crafting research proposals and conducting research in embedded systems security. They should be familiar with and have experience in microprocessor architectures, attacks and technologies to uncover vulnerabilities, hidden functions, and backdoors in semiconductor systems. Familiarity with encryption and semiconductor failure analysis methods is necessary.
The successful candidate will have the technical skills and experience necessary to support and lead interdisciplinary teams to investigate hardware security architectures (memory chips, FPGAs, microcontrollers etc.) against side channel attacks, fault injection, data remanence, and other probing techniques to analyze the security profile of said architectures.
The candidate will work collaboratively with subject matter experts in material science, electronics, algorithms, and software engineering to develop attack trees, perform system-level trades, synthesize requirements, develop architectures, build, test, and deliver ground breaking tamper resistant embedded systems.
MS with greater than 5 years of experience in industry or academia or a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science is required. A research and publication record or patent record in tamper resistant systems is a plus. Technical proficiency in two or more of the following is necessary: Microprocessor, FPGA and memory technologies, semiconductor failure analysis methods, encryption, tamper resistant systems, and machine learning enabled secure networks.
Willingness to travel.

Active or recent DoD security clearance is a plus.
