Responsibilities

The Draper Laboratory Embedded Systems Engineering Division is seeking a systems engineer to lead multidisciplinary teams to develop and deliver robust solutions in support of a variety of  Draper’s Business Areas. These business areas provide technology-intensive systems for the U.S Government and incorporate several technology areas including; GN&C Systems GPS/inertial navigation for systems, miniature low power sensors, secure communications, advanced sensor solutions and advanced computing solutions.

 

A successful candidate will be expected to perform systems engineering and engineering task management functions as well as support business development activities and proposal preparation.  The individual will be expected to participate in a full scope of system development activities, from identification of customer and stakeholder needs, definition of concept solutions and analysis of alternatives, development planning and execution, test, and delivery.

Qualifications

Applicants must have the following key qualifications:

  • An advanced degree in a relevant engineering discipline with 5+ years of professional experience in integrated hardware/software systems.
  • Be a highly motivated individual with a broad technical background and strong collaboration skills
  • The individual should have demonstrated experience and sound knowledge in core technologies (GN&C systems, sensor development, low power electronics, high-density packaging, embedded software, communications, GPS and inertial navigation) as well as practical systems engineering skills required to integrate these core technical disciplines
  • Experience in a system engineering process.
  • Experience in team leadership and engineering project management.
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to articulate complex technical ideas in a system context
  • The ability to work multiple tasks effectively while being flexible to a fast-paced environment.

 

Any of the following additional qualifications are desirable:

  • Experience in system modeling and simulation.
  • Experience in applying human factors to system designs
  • Exposure to the design of embedded system hardware, software and firmware.
  • Experience with secure communications.
  • Experience integrating and testing HW/SW solutions.
  • Experience with Earned Value analysis.

 

This position will require an Active Secret Security Clearance.
