The Engineering Deputy for Commercial Programs primary responsibility is to ensure the Biomedical, Transport/Energy, and SEMBLER (small company/start up outreach) business units have the expertise, personnel, and infrastructure required to support their opportunity capture and project execution needs. This role involves identifying and filling staffing needs, supporting customer engagement and proposal development, enabling access and scheduling of critical infrastructure and resources, and assisting the project leadership with planning, monitoring, and executing a diverse set of projects and initiatives.
The successful candidate for this position will have broad and deep knowledge and experience that spans the business, customer and engineering/technical needs of Commercial Programs. In addition, to ensure successful program execution, the Engineering Deputy for Commercial Programs must
(1) have a deep understanding of the Engineering organization and related processes,
(2) exhibit technical excellence in Draper’s core competencies,
(3) have exceptional oral and written communication skills and
(4) have demonstrated successful leadership on relevant programs.
From a business development perspective, the Engineering Deputy for Commercial Programs must understand the business unit’s customer perspectives, have a keen awareness of the competitive market and Draper’s differentiators, and have the ability to support the capture managers in developing a successful pursuit and win strategy that results in successful business capture.
The selected candidate will have a Master’s Degree or higher in a relevant technical field and a minimum of 15 years of relevant engineering experience. Past involvement working in a commercial environment would be a plus.
