The Storage Engineer will be responsible for managing block, file storage iscsi and fibre channel SAN (Storage Area Network) for Draper. They will handle the provisioning & decommissioning of local, iscsi, fibre attached hosts and storage space, as well as performing routine monitoring checks to ensure that they are operational and performing adequately. They will utilize various tools to review the health of the fabric and arrays, their workloads, and recommend any adjustments that need to be made to improve performance or stability. S/he will coordinate with the team to keep them up to date and handle all upgrades and updates based on agreed upon maintenance windows. S/he will implement changes and/or new features to support and secure the storage infrastructure based on direction and guidance from the Enterprise Storage Systems team.
Perform any required storage provisioning.
Closely monitor server storage performance and utilization, identify problems and recommend / implement solutions.
Maintain & install patch and revision upgrades on all local storage and switch systems. Implement schedule for ongoing patches, and document progress as the effort continues.
Support recovery in the event of systems failure or disaster.
Perform capacity planning and reporting to ensure efficient use of storage.
Work with the storage team to standardize the storage maintenance, provisioning and decommissioning process.
Work with storage requests, incident tickets and changes in a timely manner and work with Service Desk to resolve issues.
Serve as resource to Backup and Recovery team for additional support as needed
Participation within an On Call rotation will required, which includes nights, weekends and holidays.
