Draper Laboratories is seeking a highly qualified individual in the area of “Perception and Localization” as technical staff within the Signals, Sensors, and Navigation Engineering Division. This individual will work closely with the Division Leader in developing technical and business initiatives with DoD organizations, as well as customers in the commercial sector. This position will lead engineering teams advancing new technologies and creating new capabilities leading to impactful solutions for our customers.
The candidate we are seeking will have demonstrated exceptional technical expertise in topics including computer vision, localization and mapping, estimation theory, sensor fusion, robotics, image/video processing and machine learning. Specific focus of capabilities is on vision-aided inertial navigation and mapping, vision-based control, object detection and tracking, and point cloud processing. The individual must also have strong leadership skills, with the ability to effectively work across technical backgrounds in shaping multi-disciplinary projects.
Minimum of an M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science (or closely related field) with proven experience in team leader for at least 10 years. The candidate should have a strong experience in research and development in the technological areas of the group, proven capability in leading teams to the successful execution of projects, and the capacity to envision innovative and transformative strategic plans for the group. Candidate should also have strong skills in designing, developing and testing perception and localization solutions and proven programming skills in C/C++, Python, and MATLAB with a specific focus on computer vision libraries (e.g., OpenCV) and robotics (Robotics Operating System). Ability to obtain a secret clearance is required.
