Responsibilities

 

The Strategic Systems Program Office provides critical and unique technical support to develop, manufacture, test, deploy, and sustain the nation’s strategic deterrent systems, including cradle-to-grave responsibility for the U.S. Navy’s Trident boost guidance system.

Draper is seeking an experienced quality engineering supervisor to join the Strategic Programs’ Mission Assurance team. In this full time resident role, based at the Draper Integrated Support Facility (ISF) in Pittsfield, MA, the individual will report to the Quality Assurance Program Manager and will work as a member of a team comprised of supplier and design agent representatives to repair, integrate, and test guidance system hardware.  Specific responsibilities include:

 

  1. Management of day-to-day responsibilities and mentor for on-site resident Draper Quality engineers.
  2. Representing Draper Quality at the ISF supplier, providing supplier oversight, and general on-site presence for Draper who is the design and procuring agent for the hardware.
  3. Supporting the supplier in processing waivers and deviations, conducting internal and sub-tier supplier audits, dispositioning discrepant material through internal review boards (IRB) and material review boards (MRB).
  4. Assisting with development, validation, documenting, and refinement of Quality processes and procedures.
  5. Working with the customer, Draper, and the supplier’s management on quality planning that supports internal and external audits, identification and analysis of quality problems, trends, corrective and preventive action, and continuous improvement opportunities
  6. Generation and reporting of product and process quality metrics by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  7. Compliance of program activities with customer requirements, including customer implementation of T9001B and ISO9001 quality system requirements

Qualifications

 

 

  • The Quality Engineering Supervisor must be a highly-motivated individual with strong interpersonal and leadership skills. The individual must have strong presentation and communication skills and the ability to articulate complex issues to program and customer personnel of diverse skills and areas of responsibilities. Additionally the individual must be a self-starter and able to interface at multiple levels within the organization.  Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to readily adapt to changing priorities are required. The candidate must have the ability to obtain a US government security clearance. 

     

    The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required for this position.

     

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited 4-year college or university or an equivalent relevant education
    • Ten (10) or more years of experience working in a production environment with an emphasis on requirements compliance, problem solving, and quality disciplines
    • Five (5) or more years of demonstrated leadership ability
    • Excellent written and oral communications skills
    • Ability to prioritize and handle shifting priorities effectively
    • Ability to travel 25% of the time to US based locations
    • Experience with Quality Standards ISO 9000 and AS9100

 

 

This position will require a Secret Security Clearance.
