The Embedded Systems Division is seeking a senior Systems Engineer to apply systems-thinking approaches and advanced systems engineering methods to the development of complex system solutions.  The individual must support the full product development lifecycle of advanced technology solutions for customer needs of ever-increasing complexity with dynamic requirements and applications.  Responsibilities include the following:

  • Translation of scientific research into applied research and development activities (white paper and IRaD proposal development)
  • System requirements development, capture, and management
  • System concept development and architecting
  • Multi-disciplinary design optimization and trade space exploration
  • Detailed system design
  • System integration and test (verification)




  • Minimum MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Applied Physics with 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Technologist with solid foundation in systems engineering methods, particularly in the application of these methods towards technology maturation
  • Broad-based experience with various sensor types (both custom and COTS) and sensor-based system design
  • Experience in any of the following is desirable: electrical design, low-level embedded programming, learning systems
  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with engineers, management, and other stakeholders across all relevant disciplines are required.
  • Flexibility to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities and technologies is a must.

Applicant must be willing to travel 25%.
