Responsibilities

The Strategic Program office at Draper/Huntsville is seeking an systems engineer with broad technical skills to work within multi-disciplinary teams to apply model-based system engineering techniques to develop the concept of operations, system architecture and system requirements for advanced missile systems, enabling guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) subsystems, and/or associated enhanced ground-test systems.

 

A successful candidate will have relevant domain expertise and evidence strong ability for system-level thinking to solve sponsor mission needs.  Candidate will work as individual contributor on a multi-disciplinary team, engaging with the internal and external customer community.

 

Tasking may include: identification of customer needs, requirements analysis and flow-down, system concept/architecture development (including analysis of alternatives), system design, interface definition/control, verification/test planning, development of systems engineering documentation, model development, simulation development, performance assessment, documentation of analysis results, proposal support, and presentation of results to both internal and external stake-holders.

Qualifications

Applicants must have the following key qualifications:

  • An B.S. degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline;
  • 3+ years of professional experience working with missile or aerospace systems;
  • Candidates should have demonstrated experience and sound knowledge in core technologies (guidance, navigation, and control (GNC), aerodynamics, actuation systems, electronics, embedded software) as well as practical systems engineering skills required to integrate these core technical disciplines;
  • Experience with systems engineering processes for defense systems preferred;
  • Experience in system modeling and dynamic simulation development;
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to articulate complex technical ideas.

Any of the following additional qualifications are desirable:

  • Specific domain experience for long-range or strategic missile systems;
  • Prior practical experience using SYSML;
  • Prior experience with requirements specification;
  • Prior experience using DOORS;
  • Experience in simulation experiment design and analysis of complex system-of-systems.
