The Embedded Systems Division within the Systems Engineering Directorate at Draper is seeking a security architect to provide subject matter expertise and lead multidisciplinary teams to conceive, develop and deliver robust hardware and software based security solutions in support of Draper’s Technology Protection Business Area. This business area provides technology-intensive security solutions that extend from silicon to cyber and incorporates several technology areas including advanced chip design, packaging, miniature low power sensors, reverse engineering, cryptography, embedded software and advanced computing.
The selected individual will focus on the embedded application of technology protection and cyber security solutions, and will provide technical leadership expertise from identification of customer and stakeholder needs to definition of concept solutions, analysis of alternatives, design, development, integration and testing of solutions that are resistant to reverse engineering. This position is for a hands-on person with a deep background and knowledge of how and why cyber security and technology protection systems work at the low level. The position requires a highly motivated and innovative individual familiar with developing cyber security and technology protection solutions with a deep understanding of the complexities and trade-offs in this domain. The individual will be a key stakeholder in shaping the technology development roadmaps and will contribute to and execute against the strategic goals for this business.
Contribute to strategic planning for the division and the business area, and lead activities in support of development of long range and near term technology development plans.
Serve as the internal thought leader for the domain. Generate and secure IP. Leverage IP and work closely with cross-functional teams to uncover and address strategic technology development and business development opportunities.
Execute complex projects, tasks, and assignments with minimal or strong management direction, depending on project requirements. Lead cross-functional technology development teams to work to deadlines, often with short notice, while successfully managing multiple projects.
The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in EE/CS with greater than 20 years of experience in high technology industry with a focus on security engineering and strategy development, and will have a strong ability to couple conceptual level thinking with detailed execution. A track record of developing and fielding security architecture, systems and generating technical development roadmaps is a plus.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others who may have ongoing competing priorities and viewpoints, including company employees, peer competitors and customers is necessary as are highly developed communications, presentation, collaboration and influencing skills.
Willingness to travel is a must. This position requires an active DoD security clearance or an ability to obtain one. Experience on DARPA development projects is a plus.
