Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Director of Facilities, this role will assist with the planning, administration and management of all Draper owned and occupied facilities. The incumbent plans and manages all activities concerned with design, modification and maintenance of Draper’s physical space and all critical functions within it such as Building Management Systems, Fire Control Systems, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Systems.

  1. Support the director with all aspects of managing the Facilities Department.
  2. Manage several professional staff members.
  3. Responsible for defining, costing and managing facility construction projects.
  4. Design and management of FMC and Andover building control systems.
  5. Responsible for ensuring that all building systems such as all utilities, fire alarm and emergency generator are properly managed and maintained.
  6. Participates in the preparation of design criteria documentation and commissioning specifications for facilities and facilities subsystems.
  7. Reviews project scope and requirements to determine if work is best done in house or contracted.
  8. Identifies, selects and manages qualified contractors and consultants as needed to compliment in-house labor force.
  9. Provides technical assistance regarding installed equipment selection, acceptance, operation and maintenance.
  10. Conduct meetings with internal customers to define requirements and develop installation or construction plans to meet their needs.
  11. Conducts detailed inspections of projects during construction to ensure compliance with acceptable practices; reviews and certifies as-built construction drawings.
  12. Conducts field visits and inspections; monitor contractor performance; assists in conducting operation evaluations; and provides technical assistance regarding the selection of building systems and components.
  13. In coordination with the Operations Manager, prepares construction estimates and specifications in compliance with codes and standards and performs engineering calculations and prepares documentation to determine adequacy of design.
  14. Performs a variety of other duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.

 

Qualifications

Bachelor Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university, Certified Facility Manager (CFM) Credential from IFMA desired, MBA preferred and ten plus years’ experience in facilities including design, construction, and operations and maintenance.

 

Other Requirements: 

Knowledge of facilities management techniques and practices.

Understanding of regulations pertaining to design and construction within a facility.

Ability to interpret working drawings and specifications.

Skills to handle multiple projects and activities.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to; climb stairs, ladders, lift and carry 25 lbs., and operate heavy equipment.  

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Working conditions include working inside, working around machines with moving parts and moving objects, radiant and electrical energy, working closely with others, working alone, working irregular hours and at times traveling to other buildings.
