Draper is conducting a nation-wide search for a highly innovative and experienced individual to lead our Quantum Technologies and Photonic Systems Group. The successful candidate will lead an organization tasked with exciting development efforts for one-of-a-kind applications. Responsibilities will include business area development, proposal generation and technical project management, in addition to basic group leader functions including hiring and staff development. Group activities range from analysis of novel technologies and systems, to technology development, system concept definition and design, system engineering, build and integration management, as well as characterization and test.
Ph.D. or M.Sc. degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Optics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent. 10+ years of experience, as well as general expertise in prototyping complex systems is desired. The candidate’s background should include instances of technical leadership and design responsibility on quantum computation R&D activities, quantum communication, atom-based sensors & clocks, and/or photonic systems broadly. In addition, the candidate should be prepared to contribute to the implementation of machine learning techniques to sensors and other applications. Finally, the candidate should be a recognized expert in his own specific field, with demonstrated strength in business development. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required. Must be willing to travel.
