Draper is seeking a highly-qualified system engineer to lead the Systems Engineering, Integration and Test group, a group of 15+ Technical Staff members and students with broad systems engineering expertise across multiple domains.
This group applies the latest Model Based Engineering (MBE) architecture development techniques using DoD and commercial architectural frameworks. The group then extends those frameworks to specific problems that require rapid insertion of new capabilities into complex time critical commercial, national security, and space system applications. Special attention is placed on visualizing architecture artifacts-qualitatively and quantitatively evaluating architectures and the systems model they represent-and utilizing system architectures for investment decisions.
This group addresses project leadership of large scale technical projects in the area system-of-systems development. This group integrates multiple technologies into advanced concepts and leads them through the life cycle to operational use. With emphasis on the functions, roles, and responsibilities of the Model Based System Engineer: from the development of a proposal to the delivery of a product to a customer, the efforts to conceive, plan, budget, schedule, monitor, control/direct, and report the progress of the project.
The group will develop, communicate, and maintain technical data applying QMS to bring together Model Based Engineering (MBE) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM). The group will also be responsible for conducting component testing, integrating components comprising a system, and subsequent system testing. Empirical test results will be maintained to augment system architectures to provide sponsor/customer additional data to assess technology readiness levels and best fit solutions.
Specific responsibilities include: (1) developing the Group's Strategic Plans and Technology Roadmap, (2) overseeing and managing group’s quality of technical work, (3) facilitating group member’s placement on projects, (4) developing, growing, and maturing the Group's technical capabilities, and (5) developing new technology.
Familiarity with SysML, Design of Experiments, System Architecture, concept development, Trade study/Analysis of Alternatives techniques, Integration and Test, Failure Mode Analysis, Requirements Analysis, Requirements Development, and Requirements Management are essential.
Applicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.
