    As a Sr. Quality Engineer (QE) with Draper Laboratory the QE will be responsible for providing quality assurance support and guidance as part of a team of engineers, developers and project managers for product manufacture, test and test equipment.  The position is located at Draper Laboratory in Cambridge MA.  Specific responsibilities include the following.


    • Responsible for quality oversight of test, troubleshoot, repair and rework activities at Draper Cambridge.
    • Responsible for development and implementation of quality metrics and management of database programs.
    • As either a quality lead or individual contributor the QE would be responsible for process improvements related to approved parts and vendor lists, internal training and infrastructure such as electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection and the government industry data exchange program (GIDEP).
    • Coordinate with engineering teams to document, and implement part/material qualification plans
    • Responsible for quality oversight of parts procurement efforts.
    • Participate in internal and external supplier audits
    • Occasional domestic and/or international travel


    Qualifications Summary:


    The candidate must have or be able to obtain a US government security clearance.  It is important that this individual be a self-starter and able to interface at multiple levels within the organization.  Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to readily adapt to changing priorities are required.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.


    •        Experience with managing projects to deadlines.

    •        Experience with product manufacturing, test and troubleshooting.

    •        Proficiency in documenting plans, procedures and presenting to a technical audience.

    •        An engineering Bachelor's degree from an accredited 4-year college or university

    •        At least five years of experience as a Quality Engineer or equivalent electronics manufacturing experience with demonstrable skills in root cause, corrective action, opportunities for improvement and process control

    •        Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills

    •        Proficiency with MS WORD, EXCEL and ACCESS

    •        Ability to travel 25% of the time to domestic locations

    •        Experience with Quality Standards ISO 9000 or AS9100

    •        Secret clearance required
