    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities

    • Perform inspections of mechanical parts and assemblies of varying complexity using a wide variety of mechanical and optical instruments such as coordinate measuring machines, rotary form measuring systems, laser interferometer systems, surface plate tools, and hand inspection tools
    • Prepare and maintain procedures for inspecting parts and assemblies
    • Create programs for automated inspections
    • Work with design and metrology engineering staff to strategize inspection approaches to address specific areas of interest regarding discrepant part features
    • Collect inspection results and prepare reports for delivery to internal customers
    • Maintain awareness of current inspection technology and recommend equipment upgrades and purchases to increase capabilities and accuracy
    • Provide guidance and mentoring to fellow inspectors
    • Applied knowledge and understanding of ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
    • Operational experience with coordinate measuring machines, rotary form measuring systems, laser interferometer systems, surface plate tools, and hand inspection tools
    • Experience operating and programming Zeiss CMMs with Calypso software a plus
    • Understanding of measurement uncertainty principles
    • Awareness of Quality Management System principles

    Qualifications

    • A minimum of five years of experience in a Quality organization performing tasks related to the inspection of mechanical and/or electronic . Included in this experience is certification or a demonstrated working knowledge of the applicable industry and/or military standards associated with the quality of electronics and/or mechanical commodities.  Included in this experience is certification or demonstrated working knowledge of the applicable industry and/or military standards associated with the quality of electronics and/or mechanical commodities.  This includes but is not limited to soldering, welding, crimping, cross-sectional analysis, and wiring/cabling.
    • High school diploma or its equivalent, please two years of technical school related to engineering, science, or mathematics.  The two years of technical schooling may be satisfied through one of the following:
      • An Associate’s degree in an engineering or science discipline
      • Five college credit courses in engineering, science, or mathematics. One college level writing class can be counted toward the five courses.
      • A Quality Inspector certification (QCI) from the American Society for Quality (ASQ)

     

    Applicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.
