Sr. Contracts Specialist (US Government & Commercial)

Responsibilities include interfacing with potential and current customers, preparing, reviewing and submitting proposals, reviewing and redlining terms and conditions, negotiating agreements, monitoring contract performance, preparing correspondence and closing out agreements. Applicant should have a keen interest in Government Contracts, deep familiarity with the DFAR/FAR, solid communication skills, and the ability to resolve day to day contract administration issues.

  Primary Duties:

  • Identify terms and conditions that deviate from company policy
  • Create and manage assigned agreements in the Draper system of record and other repositories
  • Monitor performance and collect documentation for the satisfaction of agreement requirements
  • Complete invention disclosures, data rights assertions and other forms required by agreements
  • Assist senior management with reporting data and compiling audit information as required
  • Serve as the customer interface for assigned agreements during the full life cycle of a program
  • Research issues and provide recommendations for resolution
  • Special assignments and cross-training (Contracts, Subcontracts, Procurement, Property)
  • Teaming Agreements, NDAs, and Consortium Agreement drafting and review
  • Management analysis support
  • An important component to this position is the understanding and use of the Federal Acquisition Regulation and requirements of clause flow-downs from prime contract to subcontracts and how it will affect performance
  • Status and contract review meetings will be required to keep the data flow moving on pending contract or compliance actions
  • Attendance, ability to manage multiple assignments, and meeting deadlines are indispensable elements to the success of the mission
  • This position is an important liaison between the areas of contracts, programs, finance, accounting, property, subcontracts and procurement



  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5-7 years of relevant Government Contracts experience; experience in an Intellectual Property-intensive environment (e.g., engineering/technology company, technology transfer office)
  • Advanced Degree with 4-5 years of related experience
  • Ability to acquire a TS/SCI security clearance
  • DFARS and FAR experience and demonstrated ability to apply knowledge to contract administration
  • Working knowledge and understanding of contract types, including grants
  • Knowledge of both government and commercial contracting processes and considerations
  • Understanding of risk mitigation principals and corporate controls
  • Able to handle multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to quickly understand processes and ensure adherence to the same
  • Must be able to deploy a systematic approach to work, and must have an aptitude for performing work functions in a timely and well-organized manner with limited oversight
  • Able to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Can produce complete staff work and make recommendations to management
  • Problem solving and communication skills that can be deployed to collaborate effectively with different functional teams on a variety of topics
  • Proficient in Excel and MS Word
